I thought yesterday was a great day. We did the music a little different than we normally do. This week was a “House Band” day; all of the music and worship leading was done by people within our church.
We went with a team approach to worship leading. There were 4 songs yesterday and we had 4 different people lead each one. The band set up was a little different also in order to accommodate the multiple leaders. We moved the 4 of us singers more towards the middle of the stage instead of the normal spread out set up we use.
I was excited for Charley, Lauren, and Courtney to each have the chance to lead a song. That is something I hope to continue on our House Band days of leading worship.
One of my goals here at First is to raise up worship leaders within our church. Whether they just sing or lead, or just play music or whatever, I want to build them up into leaders. I believe everyone on stage has a leadership role to play in our worship times together.
God has given us some incredible talented musicians at First. And I use them like crazy! Now I am looking at some of the backing vocalists we have been using and pushing them to lead from time to time.
Videos will be posted soon on First Hattiesburg’s Vimeo and Facebook pages.
